The Church ALIVE is worth the Drive!

About Us

Our Mission Statement

"Following our Lord Jesus Christ,
we offer an environment where the Holy Spirit leads worship,
engenders God's love, and guides us to do His will."

That mission statement has been our guiding light for several years.

God's vision for South Georgia is:

"God envisions faithful, fruitful and bold congregations and ministries
passionately growing mature disciples of Jesus Christ
who are living vessels of the Holy Spirit's desire and miraculous power
to redeem every soul and circumstance."

Cordele First United Methodist Church has begun a process of discerning God's Vision for our church. We believe that He has a distinctly unique Vision for us. The first step of the process is to identify the "Core Values" that we share as a congregation.

Core Values Statement:
Cordele First United Methodist Church in the Americus District, in the South Georgia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, exalts Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord as we embody these core ministry values.
  • Spirituality - As people on a life-long quest to know God with ever increasing depth, we value our spiritual journey and spiritual growth, Prayer, Bible study, worship, the sacraments and all the ways that God shows us His grace.
  • Faith - As people who follow the Wesleyan tradition, we value grounding our faith in the scriptures as we expand our personal growth, prayer, Bible studies, other interactive studies, and obedience to God's word as we experience it.
  • Love - As people who have experienced the sacrificial love of God, we value the many ways that we can also express Christ-like love for our community, nation, and all of the world.
  • Outreach - As people lavishly blessed by God, we value opportunities to accept increased diversity through respect, trust, and equality while we live our mission, as Christ's representatives, by deed and word.
  • Spiritual Fruits - As people serving Christ, we value the spiritual gifts endowed by God which enable us collectively to be the body of Christ.
